Configuring the Result Pages

As stated previously, the addition of a Start Action results in a number of new pages corresponding to the output types returned by the Start Action (the underlying robots really). Each of these pages can be opened in the Kapplet Studio as shown in the example below, where the page 'Output Type1' is open.

Initially this page is configured to show the returned output in a table with a column for each attribute. Each of the column headers as well as the page title can be edited to carry a suitable name. However, a number of more profound changes can be made as well. For example, the table can be removed by clicking 'Delete' and the dataset to use as source can be changed by clicking 'Edit'. The type of the view can also be changed by clicking the 'select template' button, which results in a selection page as shown below.

The template options allows you to have zero or one table and zero to three graphs on a single page - thereby supporting rather advanced inspection and selection options. In the example below the template with one graph and one table has been selected and the 'Output Type1' Result Page outline has changed accordingly.

A click on the '+graph' icon in the middle of the visualization area allows the Kapplet Administrator to select the actual type of the graph to be shown. One of a number of graph type must be selected and then configured. Text fields can generally be set to any value desired by the Kapplet Administrator but drop-downs are always limited to allow reasonable choices in the context of the given dataset. In the example below this is evident as the 'dataset' box only allows the 'data' set from the 'test' robot and the 'x-axis' box only allows values corresponding to numerical attributes of the 'data' type.

When the graph has been configured and saved, the Result Page is shown again with a few central pieces of information about the graph configuration shown in place of the '+graph' icon. An example is shown below where the Result Page is shown after the addition of a histogram.

The selection/filtering capabilities of all tables and graphs originating from a single template interact to facilitate very advanced data investigation. While several views on the same dataset can be created using the 'Add Page' functionality of the left hand page enumerator such views are separate and do not interact in this way.

Once the graph type has been selected the Kapplet is correctly configured and can now be used to collect and investigate data. As you can see in Adding a Commit Action, the Kapplet Administrator can also allow the user to work with the collected data.
